School Uniforms

Moray School Bank is a registered charity in Scotland (SCO47459). The charity was set up in 2017 with the aim of providing school uniform and warm winter clothing to children living in poverty across Moray ensuring all children are equal and have opportunities to reach their potential at school.

We have changed how we work,  with the planet and charity sustainability in mind, so we have moved to a ‘Pre-loved First’ model of providing school uniform. Our new system starts on 1st July 2024.

We are no longer asking agencies to refer, we need parents to come to us directly and we will support with school uniform. Below is a diagram showing how the process will work.

St Giles Centre Pop-in Shop

Last Year we trialled having a pre-loved school uniform shop and it was a huge success!

So we have not only made it a permanent part of what we do but we have moved to a much bigger space in the St Giles Centre so we can offer a wider service.  For the summer we will offer school uniform and afterwards we will be focussing more on all children’s pre-loved clothing to meet the needs of the families we serve.

Our staff will be working from the shop to support volunteers so please come along and chat to us if you are in the town centre or come along and volunteer with us.

We are open Thu-Sat 10am-3pm weekly and will be offering extended opening hours over the summer to assist with school uniform. You can drop off any donations of school uniform to the shop as well as the donation points across Moray.

It Takes A Village

Our team work with communities across Moray to empower them in being self-supporting and helping each other with school uniform provision.

Many of you will have seen rails in your community with pre-loved school uniform for families to access or taken part in or attended a pre-loved clothing event in your community.  Moray School Bank is dedicated to supporting communities  with these initiatives, bringing young people on board as volunteers to support their community and their peers, gaining skills and experience whilst doing so.

If you would like support to set up a local initiative in your community, or are intersted in volunteering for MSB in your own community please get in touch, we would love to help you make change in Moray!

No Worries in Moray

No Worries in Moray

No Worries In Moray is a project part of Moray School Bank, started in 2018 providing trips to families struggling financially in Moray to places they couldn’t usually afford over the school holidays, like Landmark, the Highland Wildlife Park, Theatre Shows and so much more.

Giving families this opportunity takes a weight off their shoulders and gives them time to spend together away from the stress and worry of being at home. It means that the children have something to look forward to too, and that they have something to talk about when they go back to school, just like their peers.

We  try to cover everything, travel (via our minibus), admission, lunch, and money for the kids to spend in the gift shop.

To find out more about trips or if you have any questions or enquiries regarding the No Worries In Moray  please message our Facebook page or contact hannah@morayschoolbank.org.

In addition to trips below are the other options we have as part of No Worries in Moray…

Community Garden

Our Community Garden is a vibrant and relaxing place to enjoy some quality family time. We have growing space and lots of fruits, herbs and vegetables growing as well as a trampoline, swing, chute to play on. Available to all to book for a donation.

Findhorn Beach Hut

We have a beautiful Beach Hut on the front row at Findhorn Beach.  Families we support have access to the hut for free and all other members of the community can book it for a small suggested donation.  Its an amazing place to relax and enjoy the seaside.

Community Minibus

Our Community Minibus is a 16 passenger bus available to the community for a suggested donation.  You must be 25 or over, had a licence for two years and have had no accidents or conviction is the last five years to drive it.  D1 licence is NOT required.

MSB Learning to Drive

Our newest project has been driven by the need for people to learn to drive and the cost making it unaffordable.  Being able to drive is an essential skill to assist people in accessing better work and offering a freedom for families.

We had heard from one too many families that they needed to learn to drive but couldn’t afford it so we decided to invest in delivering a project where we recruited driving instructors to volunteer their time and only charge to cover their overheads making the lessons cheaper and more accessible to people struggling financially.

The project began in April 2024 and is already helping people to get on the road and we already have a significant waiting list so would love to hear from any qualified driving instructors who are interested in helping us make a difference to local families, please get in touch by completing our volunteering form below.

To access support through the project, you need to have been supported by MSB, as a parent or as a young person. Please be aware that there is a waiting list, however, you can email us to sign up – hannah@morayschoolbank.org
